A workaround for me was to create the symbolic link from
/usr/local/include/asm to /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/asm
instead of (as supplied by gcc-multilib
/usr/include/asm to /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/asm
If this will be the default the packages won't conflict as arm-gcc does
not look in /us
I have the exact same problem as #14, and the propsed fix worked

I had the same problem.
it ended up being a problem with the nvidia driver (I have nvidia Geforce GT
540M)
solved it by install bumblebee:
sud apt-get remove nvidia-current
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia

A friend complained about this (it is very noticeable when hovering into
the "system monitor" widget.
I confirmed it on his system, and also on mine, both running Maverick
Meerkat.
