even if this bug is seen as a rant by some "official" people involved,
nobody ever gave a reason on why this _packaging_ issue seems so hard to
fix.
RedHat, SuSE, Mandriva, ... to name but a few other major distributions
all seem to be able to package php-mssql but obviously it seems to be

any updates on this? Using current gutsy beta I see that php5-mssql is
still missing.
Making it available is absolutely trivial, just see the many postings on
the net regarding ubuntu & php5-mssql, eg.

This is extremely annoying beca
I had the same issue when upgrading from 2.6.20-15-lowlatency, no
ipw3945 drivers or in general package "linux-ubuntu-
modules-2.6.22-12-generic" had not been installed.
Don't know if this is expected, but I even had to invoke depmod -a to
get the driver loaded.

Your output from aplay -l shows that you are still using an old version
of alsa (ALSA v1.0.14rc1) whereas the most recent version is 1.0.14rc4.
So I can only guess that you did not (correctly) update your alsa
installation (including the patch available from the alsa bugtracker).

Turning off ACPI did not solve the issue for me (=the OP).
And BTW, turning off ACPI on a laptop is more than a bad idea (battery
and thermal management is turned off then as well).

as mentioned above, the bug is in alsa-driver and has just been fixed.
So it would be a nice thing to see an update to alsa-driver-1.0.14rc3
along with the realtek3.tar.gz patch provided in the above bugreport.
