I installed the kernel mentioned in #12 , and it works for me too .
The new kernel 3.13.0-37 from Ubuntu repositories not work. I just installed it
this morning and not work at least for me.

I also commented on the duplicate, after enabling the same plugins, I'm
having pink bars in the display and then it goes back to the login
screen, i managed to login with KDE, but then, trying to disable compiz,
I enabled the effects there... so it crashed too, I tried deleting the
xorg.conf, and l
I did exactly the same thing on a Dell Inspiron 6400 with intel graphics
just after upgrading to Intrepid, I cannot login either with Gnome or
Xfce, with any option on the menu all I get is the same bars and return
to the login screen.
