I loaded Mepis linux and then Ubuntu linux on the same drive. I now have
a dual boot machine with both linuxi working even though the compiler
still said it crashed a about 99%. It was just removing files anyway.

Itried again after running winn98 setup and the commanc c:fdisk/mbr the
program still crashed at about 98% completed I hav attched the
var/log/installer.syslog this time.

The computer had been running RED HAT 9 before I tried installing UBUNTU
on it I have reinstalled RED HAT and it is working fine.

The crash message referred to /var/log/installer/syslog
and /va/log/installer/partman their is no /var/log/installer on machine. The
system boots with the ubuntu disk in it ok. i am sending you the message from
the machine on which the install crashed. I tried installing with a newer
moniter at
this file looked as if it may help
