I'am using lxd containers. In the containers installed ntp package.
Ubuntu 14.04 has old init.d script to manage a service.
This script using status_of_proc, function from /lib/lsb/init-functions
which is disregards that system can have ntpd processes running in
containers.
I faced same problem with latest xenial build in lxd.
lxc init 7e745cf3a3a7 xenial
lxc start xenial
lxc exec xenial -- /bin/bash
root@xenial# echo 'Europe/Moscow' > /etc/timezone
root@xenial# dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata

I have a server with 3 disks in mdadm raid 1.
Third disk only for backup purposes only.
I shutdown server once a week and removing third disk to put in a safe
place.
In any case we need to test boot from this third disk, for future
confidence.

Excusme, but now I can not show output of lvs command, because I already
deleted a bad volume.
