On fresh 14.04 install with "Samba File Server" selected during
install...I hit the same "leaking memory" message when i 'sudo su'.
Confirmed was able to run 'pam-auth-update' and deselected "SMB password
synchronization" option in the pam-auth-update UI and the "leaking
memory" no longer appears.
Speaking of using the logo in the header, is there an ETA on when this
may be possible? It's something we'd definitely need to take scopes to
potential content partners

Experienced this problem on a Lenovo Y530 and an Acer Aspire 8943G-9319
after upgrade to 14.04. I am using XFCE flavor of Xubuntu on both. To
resolve this problem I disabled Light Locker on both and let XFCE

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libpam-ldap nscd
Run through the ldap prompts as usual for my local server (basically the
defaults except for ldapi:/// becomes ldap:// etc)

Select backgrounds based on aspect ratio and read them from dconf
I believe we do want this, at least from a customization point-of-view.
For example, the RIngtel background we currently have in the -customized
images looks terrible when it's stretched out.
