Public bug reported:
gcalctool 6.2.0-0ubuntu2 is a great tool to copy, past and calculate
formula from a document. Normally, false syntax causes a error message,
for example "1+1W+1" --> ERROR. That is OK.
But the result of "1+1Ω+1" is NOT "error" but "2"!
The charakter above is "Omega", but it
Some Ubuntu updates later did not work any more:
sudo mount /dev/fd0u1440 /mnt/
I'm searching a new work around.

This is a re-report from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554700 which
has marked as "Won't Fix" because the version is too old now.
It is impossible to mount with:

But this works:

The best way to work around this bug I found in a forum:
Modify in /lib/udev/rules.d/80-udisks.rules the line 175
from
KERNEL=="fd*", ENV{ID_DRIVE_FLOPPY}="1"
to
KERNEL=="fd*", ENV{ID_DRIVE_FLOPPY}="0"
After this, all mount methods are working. I don't understand the

The bug is still alive in Ubuntu10.10! Thanks to Roman Beslik, his work around

is working fine.

In the meantime I work with Ubuntu 10.4. Today I could see and reproduce
this steps:
1. Boot the system.
2. I don't make a graphical login, only a console login.
3. sudo mount /dev/fd0 /mnt # I can work on disk
4. Graphical login (gnome)
5. After step 4, the fd0 is not mounted any more! Remo

Today I'm needed the floppy after some weeks, but one of the online

My Ubuntu 10.4 full backup from 2010-06-20 works fine. I made a list

today I tested with the current upstream kernel 2.6.34-999-generic. The
result is exact the same like 2.6.31-20-generic:
mount with nautilus did not work and

devkit-disks --mount /dev/fd0 works.

Hallo Jeremy,
OK, I will try to do that. A question before:
Should I collect and post the system information with
"ubuntu-bug -p linux"
again?

Thanks, dino99,
devkit-disks --mount /dev/fd0
is a good work around.
