It is a software issue. I can use the webcam in OS X, and if I do and
then reboot into Kubuntu without poweroff, the firmware stays loaded and
the webcam works.

Well, I uninstalled nvidia-bl-dkms, rebooted, and reinstalled mbp-
nvidia-bl-dkms, and... surprise, it worked indeed! Thanks, though I
guess this bug should still remain open.
