Provided suggestion actually enables the tap-und-drag gesture but it
disables multitouch on my HP ProBook 4520s. Also it makes cursor
movement slower.

Similar situation, but will be triggered in any single of the following: logout
and switch user.
The result is blank screen and unresponsive system. None of the key
combinations work, not even *lock keys.

I can confirm that in Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper I get the same generic error with a
Pioneer DVD burner and DVD-R, DVD-RW.
The error is inconsistent. Sometimes I manage to burn from second or third
attempt.
