The inside icon is 38*28px, and all lines are either 1px or 2px, it
might be the problem somewhere in exporting between illustrator and
inkscape, its the bounding box was 52*52px not 48*48px.

i removed "quiet splash", but nothing changed. the boot stoped at
"loading manual drivers". after that, i reset the system, it works fine.

I'm having this problem as well. I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy.
I tried to open Synaptic and it closed halfway through retrieving
updates. I get the segmentation fault (core dump) errors whenever I try
to do apt-get upgrade or aptitude update.
