When I run your test script with bash (under karmic), I get the backslash as it
should be. However when I run it with dash (the default /bin/sh since edgy,
6.10) the backslash does not get displayed.
Please run 'ls -l /bin/sh' so that we can decide if this

I have already provided the information to upstream, but they have not
responded to the reopening request yet.
Here is a (trivial) patch that solves the issue. It sets the permissions of all
imported files to 'Normal', which may not be the best solution, but as C# is a
windows-centric language I

I have updated the description of this bug to reflect the results of the
experiments performed by ZelinskiyIS (many thanks to him). According to
the gnome-terminal people this is not a bug of the virtual terminal but
likely a bug in bash/readline (see

The patch has been applied upstream (see log below). I am not sure what
the status of the ubuntu bug report should be set to, can someone more
experimented please change it as needed. Thanks!

It seems that the issue is related to the Wi-Fi card and the iwlwifi
driver. It can be fixed by installing the linux-modules-iwlwifi-generic
/ linux-modules-iwlwifi-generic-hwe-22.04 package, respectively.
Also, the issue seems to only pop up on Dell Latitude ??90 laptops
(confirmed on Latitude 74
