discovered the cookie issue.
Apparently, the cookie PREF, with a value of 'fv=some version of flash' is at
fault. if you prevent this cookie from being set, or manually set it to an
older version of flash and prevent it
I can confirm I've been getting a similar crash on Kubuntu Lucid, with
2.6.32-26-generic.
I seem to be able to reproduce it by opening a mp4 video file in google chrome.

In certain conditions, my X session crashes entirely, and I'm dropped to a
regular terminal on tty1 or tty2.
Crashes seem to happen at random, but I seem to be able to reproduce it by

Actually, on further investigation, the package at fault is 'iscan-
data', which is third party. apparently it has some buggy hooks or
something.
upon removing iscan, iscan-data, and anything else up the dependency
chain, the update works.

It's still an issue for me, under kubuntu 8.04.
I started looking through the source, trying to figure out what the bug was,
and added a bunch of debug statements.
It looks like the issue might be something kde internal (maybe).

I can confirm the problem, on kubuntu 8.04, with firefox 3.5, with a
clean profile.
It goes to 100% cpu, and strace shows it cycling:

I have kubuntu 8.04, firefox 3.5, and adobe-flashplugin. Flash sound works
fine, but if I suspend, then resume, it doesn't work. An already open video
