Sorry, I haven`t got that computer configuration any more to test for this bug
again.

I confirm that flashplugin-installer and ttf-mscorefonts-installer do
not take proxy settings to download external files in Ubuntu 12.04. This
bug is not mentioned in bug #876298.

Despite of correct both environment and dconf settings, neither Chromium

I've found that command line proxy parameter helps in this issue, e.g.
google-chrome --proxy-server=myproxy.net:3128

Another way to enable proxy: install Proxy Switchy Chrome Extension and create
new profile with your proxy settings.
But it's still a workaround.

[VIA VT1708S] ALSA test
Interesting experience with Ubuntu 9.10 on my system:
* Headphones do work if Sound preferences-Output connector set to Analog
output. Setting to Analog Headphones mutes headphones
* Changing alsamixer's Headphon volume bar does not affect volume changes in
the headphones
* Headphones' volume
David:
1) Yes, I have always working speakers (but not internal, it's a desktop :) ).
2) Yes, headphones were plugged in. However I think there is no difference --
it seems my motherboard (Asus M4N68T) doesn't mute speakers when headphones
plugged in.

David, also there was no sound from tv-tuner with your deb (line in
stopped working?). Sound from tv-tuner appeared again after uninstalling
your deb and rebooting.

Nothing changed for me after installing alsa-intel-hda-diwic-via-

grayed out in alsamixer.
