Very strange. I can not reproduce it. Did you try to sudo chown -R
youruser:youruser ~/.mc and then run sudo mc again? If you tried sudo mc
the first thing, of course it will create the configuration files with
owner root and never change it in the future.

After some more experimentation, I'd like to document my findings for
anyone considering to use SmartVoip or any other betamax-based providers
with Ekiga:
1) My points 3-4) are basically invalid. Points 1-2) still stand.

I have backported ekiga from lucid to hardy, but it doesn't seem to work

Windows doesn't have the concept of relative symlinks, so it's quite

Are you able to reproduce this with 4.7.0.9 / alternatives patch? Works
for me on Hardy. You can get the package from my PPA when it's built:

segfault because of @ character in the file name. Fixed version is
uploaded to Maverick or use packages from my PPA.

I have no problems connecting and browsing archive.ubuntu.com . Did you
read previous messages before posting? I need debug logs, that is FTP
server log or wireshark conversation dump.
