I would like to confirm this issue as well. As a work around I have NTLMAPS (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ntlmaps/) running and it seems to work running through that proxy. However the proxy of a proxy is not my ideal of a fix. If Mozilla or Canonical have any sway with the XULrunner folks, it would be much appreciated to have this fixed soon.
NOTE: I do not see this issue on my windows system.
