Eric, press the "this bug affects me" button at the top. I think it's a
similar cause, so that would make someone look into the code.
(Seriously, this is a really easy bug to fix, but you need to know the
code base. Which I don't know, and I have no idea where to start. So..
please, dear Ubuntu dev
The bug happens with every kind of application, and with every

VMWare Workstation + Xorg = Tearing, glitches

Public bug reported:
After installing a VMWare Workstation 8.0.2, I wanted to work on my PPA (update
my packages), and start developing.
However, right after I wanted to kick off, this terrible glitching, tearing
started.
I have vmware-tools installed, but I have tried:

Same problem in Arch Linux. No 1920x1080 output at all.
Xorg-server 1.12.1-1
So... VMWare or Xorg? Which one is the bad guy?

No problem, but the bug can be closed. VMWare released an exclusive 2012
version (beta, can be downloaded and used for free). One of the features
is using Unity without a problem. So ...after upgrading my VMWare
Workstation, it worked perfectly.

Public bug reported:
What I did is downloading the "desktop amd64" ISO, and installing it in VMWare.
(I have enabled 3D accel.)
Everything went fine, there was no problems during the install, the UI was
working fine.
After I ran "Update Packages", I had to reboot.
After the reboot, all I get is
Oh Jesus, this made my day. =D

Easy. KDE had this app (name) first. So what's the question?
Gnome chooses a new name, done.

Everyone who would consider this as a bug. Try making a new wallpaper
and next time send them (as a brainstorm idea or something). Still, GIMP
is purely inferior to Photoshop so you should just give up. Use a solid
color if you want to fight about such thing that much.
Why did the team confirm it
Anyway, here is the 'official' PPA until then. Jerome (the author of

feel free to contact me. I'll reply/fix it ASAP.

+1 for this bug. Its REALLY annoying and it should be fixed ASAP. Don't
know what those Gnome/GTK devs thinking but they're really going crazy
nowadays. Beats me whats with them.. (Soon we'll have everything hard
coded like ... on that OS. "The freedom of choice" huh?)

cannot remove gnome-pane
As far as I know it means we are waiting for an Ubuntu developer to pack
it. That's all.

Does anyone can provide an update about this? If this "request" is dead,
I'll put together a new source package and upload it to REVU. Maybe that
way they'll include it in the repositories then. (Or any other idea?)
