i guess it's alsa-driver (kernel driver) problem, because it doesn't know that acer aspire 8943g has a 5.1 on-board speakers, that's why they are not working properly systemwide. so we have to wait untill alsa adds support for 8943g, because they have support for 4 acer aspire **30g models, but no

affects not only ubuntu natty, also oneiric and archlinux. tried every single model name listed in HD-Intel-Models.txt (Section ALC662/663/272) — but no success, some models gave me Center and LFE in alsa mixer, but they didn't worked in alsamixer. Described the situation here:
