This bug seems to affect also to Maverick (regression?) at least in my case
using a Novatel MC950D Modem.
The system is Kubuntu Maveric with KDE 4.5.3

I also have the problem running 32bit karmic. I have /boot on partition (hd0,2).
Adding manually the line "root=(hd0,2)" to the memtest entry solves the problem.
The linux entries add this line automatically,
I have also this problem with Kubuntu 9.10 and I have not changed the oxygen
theme.
Every time I start the system it tries to start Kde session without login, then
fails, then prompt for login.

After updating the system with networkmanager from trunk ppa and with not
realesed updated (2.6.31-15-generic-pae)
the problem have not dissapeared.

wvdial. It also worked with some karmic beta.

I can confirm this problem but only when I tried to change first phonon

Binary package hint: qtparted
The desktop menu of qtparted do not launch qtparted. After installing
qtparted the K Menu -> System -> QtParted do not launch the application
properly. It seems that the error is is the command as it is qtparted-
root, not qtparted. At least chan
I can also confirm that works with gcc-4.2. Kubuntu Hardy and FF3 from
ubuntu repos.

I can confirm the problem appears on the oficial ubuntu hardy build of firefox
in 2 different PCs with Kubuntu Hardy.
I have also to add that the problem does not apprears with the mozilla build of
firefox.
