I have the same issue on Lubuntu 11.04. The network connection drops
randomly, and can only be reconnected after rebooting the system.
This occurs for both wireless and wired connections. Also, it's not
limited to torrents - it happens when browsing the web.

Just an update to say that following Fabián's advice (in post #2,
2007-01-17) about the /.config file worked perfectly, and the panels are
up and running again.
If I can find some way to reproduce the panels' disappearance I'll post
the details.

I'm also seeing this bug, currently using Xubuntu 10.10.
I can't launch xfce4-panel at all, either from Alt-f2 or from the
terminal. The panel just flashes a couple of times as if it's trying to
run, before it fails. Running it in the terminal returns a floating
point exception.

I've tested this on Xubuntu Lucid / Stellarium 0.10.4, and the problem
is no longer there: Stellarium now starts and runs without crashing.

I'm getting what I think is the same problem. Stellarium crashes on
startup with a segmentation fault. This is the text that appears in a
terminal:
