(could be hplip tools also) restarts cups at some point by calling
/etc/init.d/cups restart. Since cups startup scripts were converted to

My installation steps:
1) Create software raid0 md0 for / and md1 for swap on two SSDs
2) Run installer Try unbuntu - Install
3) At the end of installation I have the error, that grub cant't be installed
on /dev/sda1 (actually, known issue)

doesn't exists and not even needed.
Quick hack is to remove string from gi import _glib from

I looked at my coredump on trusty (it crashed for me twice already!)
with gdb and I see evidence that this crash might be due to
multithreading issues. The reason is that when inspecting memory at %rdx
(edge) and I see that a pointer at %rdx+0x48 (edge-first) doesn't match
with a pointer in %rcx
I looked at the implementation of cairo-ft-font.c and it seems that
there are huge multi-threading violations in cairo. The reason is that
FreeType API documentation clearly states:
In multi-threaded applications, make sure that the same FT_Library
object or any of its children doesn't get

I would like to confirm this: i have at least 3 computers with Ubuntu
installed (13.10 64) - i do not know any way to close that sidebar
forever, that is very annoying to me, since i don't use it, but it eats
up a place on the screen, especially since two-panel was removed i'm

Just installed and tested precise. For whatever reason I couldn't
reproduce plasma-desktop crash with neither 4:4.8.1-0ubuntu4.6, nor
4:4.8.1-0ubuntu4.7, no matter how many times I switch between Activities
and Add widgets. Maybe there's something different about 12.04 that
makes it not crash like

I've installed the fix available from saucy-proposed repository on my
up-to-date saucy system and I can confirm that it fixes this bug.
Here are the details of steps I performed to verify the fix:

It started to happen after I upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10. Gnome
freezes (but mouse cursor keeps moving) at least once a day and only Gnome
restarting helps.
When this happens the following error can be found in the /var/log/syslog:

Confirmed. Same thing after an update from Ubuntu 13.04 to 13.10.
Layout indicator is always present for me on screensaver, but hotkeys
(Alt+Crtl) to change layout won't work. Have to click on the indicator
next to password field in order to change layout.
