on Ubuntu you can't access files created with another linux system,
because there are different uid, I think that a good solution could be
create Ubuntu user with the same uid of the old linux system (see
directories in /home

I have only one wifi network (open, with no encryption and visible essid), but
often the gnome applet doesn't attach to it, and list no wifi network
available.
I tried to create a new wifi network with the applet, but it doesn't attach,

The package with that command was missing, so I installed it. I don't
know if that could be the cause. Loggin out after the command "gdm-
signal --reboot" the system rebooted.

I resolved my problem.
System->Administration->Language support.
In "Input method" checked "enable support for complex characters", (I've
translated it from italian).
Maybe this should be the default?

Attached usb external hard disk with 2 partitions. It mounted both and
