I am running ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64 bit on a Dell Vostro 3550 and I have
experienced this issue as well. However, the problem has been SOLVED by
simply removing the factory installed dummy from the SD slot.
Apparently, the relevant driver is designed to detect a SD module via
the slot plug-in switch

I've done a lot of quick suspends/resumes locks/unlocks to speed up
the process. I've encountered the freeze only 1 time after lock/unlock,
NOT suspend/resume. Can't be sure if it would also happen then, but for
now I can confirm the freezing also occurs in 3.4 Quantal. I'll switch

Ok, tested in 3.2 and 3.4. It reconnects at resume from Suspend after
10-12 seconds. It took so long that's why I thought it was hit and miss.
I messed with some packages before so I can't be 100% sure it works
because of what I did or not. So I'm going to do a fresh install of
