What you need to do is edit /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop with your
favorite text editor as admin.
Go down to the Exec line and change the entry from nm-applet to dbus-launch
nm-applet.
Go to the NoDisplay=true line and change to NoDisplay=false.
Save the file and reboot!

Hi,
I've got the same annoying problem using unity 11.10,and I've just got a work
around : I've replaced zenity by yad (requires yad package installation of
course and to add it to the dconf-editor desktopunitypanel whitelist)

I knew that's an hard job (H. Peter Anvin) to modify parted, but with my drive
i discover that's an open door to the bug #1, and is the first limitation found
in parted which is the best

grep audio /etc/group
response
audio:x:29:pulse
changed it to
audio:x:29:username
and by System = Preference = Sound default mixer track
HDA Intel (Alsa Mixer)
all was ok

why are you in a hurry to close bugs which are discussed on the ubuntu forums:
they do not disappeared by magie.
Users are in pain with problems of misconfigurations in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf .
We experienced the same bug on french forum with MD 96880.
