Actually, I restarted my laptop a second time to check if the behavior
was consistent and it wen much worse, the spalsh screen went
completely corrupted with repeated fragments of part of the desktop
under the cursor in weird colors.

I was in way to setup the Nouveau experimental 3D driver (#73) . but I've
found unity-2d is working OK with NVIDIA recommended drivers.
sudo apt-get install unity-2d
unity-2d is not so fancy, but it works, it has lower reqs, and games
also work.

Hi, I attach 3 files with dmesg, in 3 different situations:
-when start ok
-when fail after start
-when just don't start
Right now after 5 to 10 reboot and halt, the ath0 start ok, but after a few
minutes, maybe 20, just stop to work.

Yes, I prefer wait if the problem returns. I've work with another issue and
later I try to reproduce the hang. Another thing, the hang occurs when
unsetup some "topos" (spanish) in one note, and I was working with 4 or 5

I could fix this problem using a nVidia 8400 PCI Express with dualhead.
Using the latest nvidia driver (version 180) with xinerama support
activated (the support comming with the driver not the Xorg support).
For now forget to use xinerama with two independient nvidia PCI cards or
like that.

I updated to jaunty.

I own two Acer computers 4520, and in one of them I have the same bug at
shutdown the computer. I have kubuntu jaunty installed on the computer
with the bug. In the other I was installed ubuntu jaunty.
The computers differs only in the processor type. One have a dual core.

An update, yesterday i removed my NVIDIA drivers (1.80) compiz was
disable after this. I did reinstall NVIDIA (180) enable compiz & now i
dont get the corrupt cache anymore.

default linux distro.. Mandriva 2008.

I do agree in one thing, is an anoying bug. It even feels like wndows
loading with a mcfee antivirus ;-)
I do not agree is an envidia problem. I use an internal onboard video
card no nvidia things.

Same issue.. after installing got the same as at the report was mention.
The GNOME desktop takes very long time to load during the system boot,
i.e. the first time. Log out and login again is faster than light,
though. Feisty is significantly faster at startup time.

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. If the terminal (gnome-
terminal) window is maximized, it redraws its content really slow. And
if I open a new tab the terminal freezes, unmaximizing the terminal
makes it work nomally. This repeats in the same way everytime I tried
