i did a complete fresh install of Kubuntu (daily image from april, 12th),
today my system did freeze (actuall when i was afk)
i had some applications running: amarok, kmail, nothing special.
the music falls into a very short loop, m

you can do this easily in your menu-editor.
the command line is: nvidia-settings

same situation here. after the latest upgrades i can only get a running
x server using "vesa", since im somehow not able to install nvidia-glx-
legacy (my card ix 4400 ti)

i installed latest update too. synaptic says about the version:
1:2.0.0-0ubuntu2
at the moment i use a manually installed nvidia 9631.
so this is how i tested it:
-> sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and choose "nv"
-> edited linux-restricted-modules-common from "nv" to ""
result: same blackscr
as requested on irc, here is the log. (xorg.conf was a fresh dpkg-
reconfigured one, "nv" set as driver)

same here, it seems it is not possible to install 9631 manually from
nvidia.com running the latest kernel 2.6.20-13.
