The same exact problem on 17.04 after upgrading from 16.10.
I tried different mouses, wired/wireless and xset command in terminal
but no luck so far.
I can't change the mouse speed at all.

I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 (i7-6700HQ 16GB-RAM 4K 512GB SSD Samsung).
I'm experiencing the same problem that @Ben has described.
My story: I went from 16.04 to 16.10 (no serious issues with the
previous versions) and then 17.04 almost a week ago, everything with the
previous versions was great but

I would like to request this as well. Without reading this bug description all
the way, I wouldn't have figured this out. I was drawing on a black background,
and the markers of course did not show up. So as mentioned several times above,
this can be a show stopper.

I am also facing this bug. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 on a X41 tablet.
I've attached an screenshot of what happens in xournal when I try to
slowly drow a vertical line. I tried it once, changes the color with my
mouse and tried the pen again. It seems that my pen only jumps straight
