sorry I am late, but I've got a lot to do in the last few weeks. I'm running
Ubuntu 12.04 and it is daily updated ( it is really a great releas!!!). But the

Uninstall pm-utils and makea notice about all the packages which will
remove and reinstall it again (without pm-utils 1.4). Then you should be
able to install pm-utils 1.3. For me it works on 11.04 with dell vostro
3700. ...but I can't give you a warranty.

I work with the workaround in comment 37 and locked the pm-utils 1.4 for
updates. It is working fine. I have no more crashes.
Maybe the solution of miroslav is the better one, but I have not tried it.

do not download the newer version - you'll get the same problems like before.
With Synaptik you can
force pm-utils 1.3.0 package.
On my laptop, the workaround still works fine.

I still found following:
Ubuntu does not crash, if WLAN is switched off or is not present.
If I have a connection over LAN it does not crash, too.
It crash, if I use my SmartPhone as modem.
Hope it is important.

now I tried the new final released live-cd and I've got the same problem.
Now I'll run the apport collect, but I can't do it on battery, cause I have not
enough time before Ubuntu crashes.
