I can confirm this bug too. Compiz freezes randomly, but i found a way to enforce the freeze: (1) open gnome-terminal (2) $gedit (3) ALT-TAB back to terminal (4) $gedit At this point the freeze occurs, but not yet completely. The display freeze, but keyboard is reacts normal, as i see in gedit
