I was able to reproduce this 3 times yesterday but now it is working
fine.
I opened up numerous .mkv files with totem from the terminal and nothing
gets printed out in the terminal.

i have now fixed the problem i went on some forums and a user told me to
log in as terminal and remove compiz and compiz-core after i did this it
worked
