Okay, this one creates and installs a libjpeg62-i386 package to satisfy
the dependency.
On another topic, I cannot figure out *why* the amd64 package depends on
the i386 libjpeg.so.62 library. The dependency appears to come from the

Try doing this:

Looks like I need to create a dummy package *only* for i386 arch that depends
on libjpeg62.
Then I need to depend on the dummy package. Probably will call it
ia32-libjpeg62.
Easiest way to do that is to add equivs to the build-depends, I think.

I had a perfectly good 10.04 system, ran the automatic update, and it is
now broken.I regard that as
Xorg don't want this one.
I can't find a 'package' for the process of doing a distribution upgrade, so
this is my next best guess.
I rather think that having to know the name of a package before
searching for it in launchpad is counter-intuitive, by the way!
** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu)

Right. Kdm. Should it not be running gdm?
How do I switch display managers from the command line? presumably
something in /etc/ or etc/init?

Public bug reported:
I used the Update Manager to update from 10.4LTS to 12.04LTS.
When I boot the graphical environment does not start correctly. I get a
confused screen of boot up progress messages, exactly as described here:

Bugs,
I have upgraded to 12.04LTS server and that does not respect
/etc/hdparm.conf either.
My hdparm.conf file looks like this:
--
bob@server01:~$ cat /etc/hdparm.conf
/dev/sda{
spindown_time = 30
write_cache = off
sleep
Is this a duplicate of Bug 595138 ?
