My Ubuntu 12.04.3 PC seizes up every 2 or 3 days, forcing a reboot. But, today
it just reported an error and continued working and then encountered the same

Problem still exists in fully updated Ubuntu 13.10 with nvidia-310
(proprietary) drivers on gefore 460 gtx. Windows that have transparency
applied become completely transparent. Windows with out transparency
become completely black. Disabling Doge fixes the problem.

it relates to the buggy emulated keyboard controller, not HDDs,
and there were no kernel panics, just power-offs (or reboots, as someone

Turning off hardware acceleration seems to have made LibreOffice more
stable. Not sure, since I have only opened a few files, but it seems to be
working.
The webgl-conformance-tests.html page did indeed crash Firefox, after
reporting some failed tests.

Christian: I'm not sure about workaround within compiz, but you could
switch window managers. I switched to xfwm4 for the time being. I'm
using gnome-session, so I created a
/usr/share/applications/xfwm4.desktop and edited /usr/share/gnome-
session/sessions/mysession.session, setting

I'd love to see this pulled into the Ubuntu repos as well. The rEFInd
author already packages a deb that works with Ubuntu: see the downloads
at http://sourceforge.net/projects/refind/files/0.6.8 . I use this
package on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS without problem. IMHO, it is a lot simpler

Yes, I see this behaviour in 12.10 and 13.04. When you first put some
videos into the video folder, the lens will show 1 entry for each as
expected. But upon a reboot it shows duplicates in the video lens for
each file.
