Septemeber of this year things finally went from bad to worse.
Up until the start of September 2012 I had noticed and steady regression
of the wired mouse's ability to operate as it should do. Over a number
of years; 3 infact. Ever

Mouse wheel scrolling is back to front ie up is down, down is up.
Pointer takes or doesn't take , perform either random scrolling, no
selection for c&p, or everything but what is wanted, or won't select
what is wanted.
Panels and Desktop , Windows, Apps, roll
I have just reinstalled 12.04 to see if anything would resolve itself.
No luck.
I have sent the author an email to ask him to look at this.

The scrollwheel of my mouse wont work cor
Please could someone tell me what to do.
I have spent hours and hours reading, writing, tapping Googling,
reading, reading, reading and attempts at editing.
I presumed I would have to use the above patch. How do I do that?
How do I get this resolved please?

@Raymond thanks for that. I am currently reading through this

Not with the box ...agin...I was earlier..now I'm 50 miles from it...but
as and when I implement a fix I will come back, report how I fixed it
and update this bug report

I will be as other issues have been occurring.
I think you are right though. And I don't know about you?... but the
issue is becoming more and more problematic as I am "training" myself to
use the mouse incorrectly. :/

@Dave Lentz . Thank-you for your response. I will remove the line as
suggested. I won't have access to the machine for a few days now but
would welcome any other suggestions or instructions to provide more
reports if requested.

After another week of Updates and Life may I report that this bug
affects me in a variety of ways still.
Notably in Nautilus operation of the mouse is as normal.
In Firefox things appear reversed. As do other System setting eg Sound.
In VLC Volume..it's reversed.
In GIMP the actions of the scrol
Xwarman (xwarman) mistakenly thought I had...I have now :)

and now I can confirm that button 2 in on the wireless mouse no longer
functions...eg to open links in a new tab within Firefox.
Also confirm with use of xev.

HOWEVER Firefox scrolling:down is up, up is down. Reversed?
Nautilus down is down and up is up ie correct.
Volume on VLC up scrolling is decrease and down scrolling is increasing volume.
Sound Indicator= as for vlc
Going deeper into VLC eg Tools>Prefrences>All...the scrolling is reversed

I also had this problem with a wireless Logitech(I can't seem to see the model)
& a wired Logitech(LX3).
