Yes, the gnome compatibility plugin is enabled in ccsm (I'm assuming
this is the default, I didn't change it).
When I change the settings in the control centre keyboard shortcuts
dialog (is that the capplet? Sorry, I'm not to knowledgable about gnome
internals), the reassigned shortcut is shown

Fresh 11.04 install, I am unable to change the shortcuts to switch
directly to a given workspace (IE, I use alt+f1 to switch to workspace
1, alt+f2 for #2, etc) with the system settings interface. I had to
