When first booting the computer a grub menu comes up. Then after picking
which kernel to boot into the screen goes blank then text appears saying
fsck and other things then eventually the splash screen shows up and

The only way to install the package is by hand. It is not in the
repository. I bought this from the Ubuntu Shop site so that I would have
offical supported legal codecs. Also I am not upgrading anything I have
