This seems to be happening to a lot of people, and it's a very annoying
bug. I regularly miss newly opened windows because they are always
opened in the background, and every time there is the additional needed
step of hunting it down in the task bar and clicking on it.

Incredibly, I appear to have something new to add:
On my system (Karmic 64-bit), the problem appears when I enable System
- Preferences - Windows - Select windows when the mouse moves over
them.
One additional data point: when my mouses passes over certain areas,
such as buttons, on a Flash

libsane for Debian, this is due to a known bug in the proprietary Nvidia
driver.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? I am using the proprietary Nvidia

I can now confirm that I *can* scan images correctly from my workstation
using scanimage, so the problem is most likely not in the sane
infrastructure.

I was previously signing my emails with a web-of-trust certificate from
Thawte, but now I have obtained a Comodo certificate and installed it in
Evolution. I changed the Signing

wanted to mount my Windows partition from the Places menu. It asks for
my password using the same Authenticate dialog as the software-center
uses, and it just did the same thing. I entered my password, and the

Yes! I did it. Here's the screenshot.
Clicking on Cancel or Authenticate did nothing. Clicking on Details
worked normally (showing and hiding the details). When I clicked the
close button in the top right corner the dialog was closed and the
installation proceeded normally.

I'm experiencing this problem on a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, which has
an ATI Mobility Radeon X300 chipset. I have attached my Xorg.0.log file
(produced using the daily build live CD of 15 October). This is from a
straight boot, so with normal desktop effects and without proprietary
drivers.

I have exactly the same problem. I have two NVidia 8800 GTX's, with one
monitor attached to the first card and two monitors attached to the
second card. Ubuntu Hardy does not appear to see the second card at all,
there is no way to enable it or the monitors on it. The Screen

I agree, it would appear to have got worse. For me, this only appeared with
Gutsy and I've been using Ubuntu from Dapper onwards with this same Seagate as
a secondary hard drive.
I plan to test Hardy Alpha 2 on the second PC that now uses this Seagate drive
in the New Year,

Hi!
I also have an i810 chipset causing the terminal to terminate the xfce session.
For me also, changing the color depth in xorg.conf from 24 to 16 fixed the
problem.
Hope that helps narrowing the bug's
delight, in synchronization the pointer moved
across the screen! Testing it with the Gimp was a joy - pressure
sensitivity works!
