I can confirm the problem with libc6, just ran the update from within the
update manager.
As soon as it installed (or at least tried to) the crash report poped up.
After reading al posts i tried the suggestions from Steve Beattie to
reproduce the error, if someone can tell me what files can help
wobbly windows is not the cause for this problem.
checked with a few applications and only the terminal window was opening
under the top panel.
Workaround to stop the windows from opening offscreen:
Compiz Settings manager Put Misc. options select Window Center
Avoid Offscreen and put

As long as the Compiz window manager is active the shift key does not work the
way it should.
Disabling compiz and selecting Metacity also makes the shift key work again.

Same problem running on Hardy, as i start the game the screen gets
stuck. The only thing possible is hard resetting the machine.
The solution stated above (running the game with the option -f) fixed
the problem for me.
running the game on a Asus A8Jn with a Geforce GO7300, 256mb turbocache.
