I can confirm this on my kubuntu gutsy tribe 5 install. Changing
ownership of bookmarks.xml manualy solves the problem but only until you
open dolphin with kdesu again.

yesterday. Now my xorg is extremely slow too. Note than I have an ATi

when I installed gutsy, I noticed that suspend feature (set the computer
in sleep mode) was finally working. However, after I installed scim (to
type chinese), I noticed that the suspend feature was not working
anymore: the screen is switched off but
I did more tests :
it looks like if I launch scim manually using Alt+F2>scim, I don't have the
suspend problem anymore.
Apparently, suspend is not working only if scim is launched automatically on
startup (default).

They advised to disable this:
CONFIG_SCSI_SCAN_ASYNC
because of a bug in scsi core. Maybe Ubuntu should do the same until the bug is

I have just switched from kubuntu to ubuntu. I installed ubuntu-desktop package
and Gnome is running fine. However, when I launched some apps (I noticed
rhythmbox and gconf-editor), I saw this error message in the terminal:

2.6.22 kernel. I booted on my 2.6.20 kernel and my laptop internal

I found out that this was due to a conflict with Kopete. Apparently it
has a similar keyboard shortcut and indent works when Kopete is shut
down.

Regarding the Menu file, it was a misreading of the spec. But let me

Just installed a new copy of ubuntu hardy alpha 4 in a vmware at work.
Proxy settings have been defined in synaptic and firefox and they both
work. Update-amager still can NOT connect and aptitude or apt-get on the
server can NOT connect either.

After install, the first time a tracker popup appears to educate the
user, this popup floats at the left side of the screen. After
disappearing, the user might wonder what the hell this was. It should
appear a bit later when the desktop is loaded
