OK im still a little new at this but i upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 to
12.04 now i want to go back to 11.10 clean install or at least a
downgrade and that's where the problem starts. OH I'm also duel booted
with win-xp. So I ran the live DVD disk of 11.10 and I tell it I want to

Dell Inspiron 9400, has sub-woofer on bottom of laptop when sound is at
30% volume the sound then comes on and the sub-woofer is at full volume.

I have a inpiron 9400 and have the same problem. I am running Ubuntu
10.10. It was also happening with 10.04. I tried Linux mint and all went
fine but, I dont like mint, I like Ubuntu and would like to get this
problem solved and yes im a newbie.

I read up there that more info is needed so here is what I got I have
installed all the flavours of ubuntu (kubuntu,ubuntu,edubuntu,xubuntu)
all 9.04 and everytime that i get it installed then get the updates, I
shut the pc down and I get a different [.xx] system halted

I just completely reinstalled karmic on the machine (compaq) desktop and
after install I went to synaptic package manager and reinstalled prism
google calendar and everything is fine as long as i dont login. as i
said before. i have also updated everything.
