Exactly as above in Nikolaj's post. I just ran an update and I
assume this updated me to 0ubuntu3, now X doesn't initialise and I get
the error described. Downgrading to 0ubuntu2 fixes it...

That's not an answer! I was using Transmission flawlessly for many
months with 0904 and 0910, writing to a remote file share. Immediately
that I moved to the 1004 beta this started happening.
It was fine before. With 1004 it is not. There is a genuine issue.

Fully updated Karmic, installed cairo-dock, all worked just fine for a
while. Played around in the config panel trying different options, etc.
Then I added the weather applet, when I tried to configure it, the
config panel and dock itself
I can confirm that this bug is still not fixed karmic/rb 0.12.5 it
triggers the same messages on every start up for my .id3 files (used by
another media player, moving them is not an option!). Whether it is
