Hi Mossroy,
I'm eager to help you diagnose your current problem, but I guess we
shouldn't discuss the details by commenting on a bug ticket that was
practically closed months ago.
I shall do some testing, and send you results through Launchpad soon.
After that, one of us may file a new bug

To make things sure, I removed the hplip package, then retried the steps

The results are exactly the same.

The same error does occur with Firefox 3.0.16, too.
To be honest, it's not a showstopper, since this is the only website where I
experienced a segfault.
I suppose we can close it considering it's low importance and the fact that
most people will switch to 3.5 in the near future anyway.

Today I tried to reproduce the bug on the same hardware, but with Ubuntu

firefox crashed with SIGSEGV while opening a flash site
No I didn't, but I discovered that Vega Strike has it's own bug tracker:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=19507atid=119507
So I submitted a bug report there, too, and posted a link to this bug
report.
I also discovered that I can run Vega Strike on the same hardware using
Ubuntu 9.10 +
I successfully reproduced the crash with a clean new profile following
the described steps. There's also a bit of new information: when the
crash happens, the following error message appears in the terminal
window:
Xlib: extension GLX missing on display :0.0.
Segment fault (core dumped)

OK, this was really simple to reproduce. The flash site is
www.marilynmanson.com, I had to wait a bit, while it loaded. After a while I
got to the part with Mr. Manson's face, clicked the Enter site text, and
shortly after that, the SIGSEGV came.
Well, I guess it's a poorly written flash site
I get a similar error when starting in recovery mode.
If I don't touch anything after selecting recovery mode from the GRUB
menu, I get a different output: the recovery menu appears and the
following text over the first menu item:

OK, here's some update.
I tried to reproduce the error on Karmic (9.10) with Brasero 2.28.2, but
I couldn't. Looks like this version of Brasero simply doesn't react to
the CTRL+C, CTRL+X, CTRL+V key combinations. (Maybe this is
intentional.)
Also, if you want to move added directories/files

AFAIK this problem is solved in Jaunty and Karmic with the new network
manager connection editor, which has a DHCP (only addresses) setting.
This means that the DNS addresses can be hand edited, while the other
stuff will be autodetected via DHCP. It worked for me this far.

I suggest lowering the importance of this bug, since:
- I'ts not reproducible as far as I know.
- It occurs rarely. (I've been playing the SS with generally the same settings
environment for about 20 hours altogether, and I only encountered this error
twice. It's not so serious, especially if
