Workaround by @8-mail-g worked for me. This question

touch suggests it's because of a timeout occurring before the password
was entered. Maybe on the coding side, this can be prevented by saving
the password temporarily and retry
I can confirm the bug in Kubuntu 13.10, the attached patch works for me.
(The trouble seems to be that /usr/bin/qdbus links to /usr/bin/qtchooser
which does not seem to work as expected.)

fills the command line arguments starting from $0:

I don't know exactly, why it does not work. The environment variables
are changed correctly, i.e. if the given directories don't exist, an
error pops up saying so. Starting non-GTK window managers works
correctly, but GTK programs (most prominent example: Firefox) then hang
as in Unity.

I just had the same problem (also KPackageKit on 11.04), the only
workaround I could find was to do a "sudo apt-get upgrade" on the
terminal, to get at least the necessary updates done.

The first workaround proposed in the first comment in bug #475936 works
here (changing the running order of cryptdisks-enable and mountall). The
only trouble left was the wrong permissions of /tmp, which could be
easily fixed with
exec /bin/chmod 1777 /tmp/

I don't know if this is exactly the same error, but I get something very
similar. A quite minimal testcase is included as an attachment. It can
be produced by pdftex from the following source:

I get a very similar behaviour, probably the same bug, when connecting
objects _within_ a group. At least there's a workaround that works in
most cases: Select the group, ungroup it, and group it again. This is
another hint that the reason might lie within some wrongly handled
transform attribute

I can confirm this bug:
After upgrading to 8.04, the kernel doesn't recognize one of my hard
disks (the one with the root partition on it) any more (a seagate IDE
disk). Booting with the old (2.6.22) kernel works fine. It's not
recognized by the live CD either. The other disk (also IDE) is
