Cannot log into Unity, Gnome. Cann

This is fresh Natty install with previos home partition. Root and home
partitions are on SSD. I have nVidia card.
After GDM is started it tries to log me in automatically as it is set
to. However it never reaches the desktop. All I get is Ubuntu wallpaper
and mouse cursor. By
My fault, turning Digital up in the Capture view of alsamixer does make
microphone work, indeed.
It would be good to adjust the default settings for new installations if
possible.

I tried playing with alsamixer values both in playback and recording tabs, but
nothing seems to get my microphone working. Would it help, this is the option
from my Dell order:

when I try to lauch it from Konsole, it says:

I can confirm this as well, I had submitted another bug, and my swap
uuid changes repeatedly after every few reboots.

after previously filling bug 98980 | dist-ugrade change swap vol id?
I experienced the same thing several times: I boot up and find out that there
is no swap-space. Checking out vol_id of my swap partition reveals its uuid
changed since the last time.
