I also cannot get the subwoofer working on MSI EX625-227US, which has an
82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller. I had no sound at all until i
edited
nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
and added these lines at the end
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi
