On subsequent reboots the fix of combining #57 and #12 DID work for me
(UbuntuGnome 14.04 with Gnome 3.12). So reboot a couple of times...but
the problem was always sporadic. I will report back here if the problem
reappears.

Gnome shell extensions disabled at every startup
To manage
and used
this to remove all the broken files all 240 of them. Did this and then
ran apt-get update and upgrade and the problem apparently is still not
fixed. I do not know how the glib file is getting placed into the
improper directory.

I have this problem, dropping to the initramfs prompt just like post
#40. It started for me 3.5.0-23, so i boot into 3.5.0-22 to get a
working system. I am running 12.10. I do not have lvm, so that's
probably not the problem. I have an encrypted /home. I was hoping the
kernel update today
I am now unable to help debug because I now have Tuxonice kernels.
This is not still an issue for me because I have installed Tuxonice. Tuxonice
works great. It did take a lengthy configuration (I followed a tutorial at
ubuntugeek.com) but now instead of having to patch your kernel you now get
