NVidia Settings Manager was already installed. I cannot select 1920x1200
there but only 1600x1200. Manually setting that resolution under
advanced ended in a horizontally scrollable screen.

Whow, don't know exactly what happend, but resolution is fine now.
Added some modelines found in nvnews.net's forum without knowing what
exactly they mean:
Option ExactModeTimingsDVI TRUE
Option UseEDIDFreqs false
Option ModeValidation DFP-0: NoMaxPClkCheck,

Thanks for your help. But no change after restart. The monitor is
connected using DVI, I'm confused because of the refresh rate.

I just installed Intrepid Beta. Did some research on this, but couldn't
find working solution.
I'm using a Samsung SyncMaster 245B connected via DVI to my NVidia
FX5200, driver is NVidia 173 (restricted). Other driver versions and
open driver cause same effect. The monitor's
xorg.conf applied
