Yes. It's still an issue. After upgrading the kernel last week the fan
spins in highspeed non stop. I am on 8.04

I confirm this, happens to me also in Xubuntu gutsy
the system tray icon disappears and a blank space will fill in its
place. that happens mostly after i add some other items to the system
tray, or when i check the options of any application thats already in
the system tray.

I confirm this also in Xubuntu 7.10
last.fm player works fine. but in rythmbox it cannot play last.fm
stations.

i have the same problem on my laptop , i rather see a freezed image of
my desktop that lasts for 2 or 3 seconds at startup instead of the
usplash, and then at the shutdown i see very large ugly fonts of the X
scripts.

in my case, reinstalling powernowd everytime i login into xubuntu will make
it run, please reinstall it from synaptic and report what you find here..
