I selected a deleted file in my master branch. Then I went to the
branches menu and selected the credentials branch. Gitg segfaults.

From this state, I go to the select branch menu and select
credentials.
The application the dies. It prints the following text in the terminal
on which I started it:
(gitg:27775): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_get_value: assertion
`VALID_ITER (iter, list_store)' failed
(gitg:27775):
If I don't select the deleted file before switching branches, the switch
succeeds.

This solution worked for me:
Edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and add options snd-hda-intel
model=laptop to a new line.

I'm running Gutsy amd64 linux version 2.6.22-14 generic on a HP Pavilion
dv6500. I also have the problem that internal speakers don't mute when
I plug my headphones. I'm adjoining here the output of my codec

This problem has been fixed in version 0.5.4 (as confirmed by
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6259). The repository
needs to be updated (in Dapper) from 0.5.1
