Update:
This issue appears resolved in the copy I downloaded on May 18 from the
University of California, Merced mirror. I verified it on all three
machines I previously replicated the bug on.

It "appears" to have installed correctly after setting wubi to run in
compatibility mode, but Ubuntu does not run and doesn't seem to have any
way to run it.
I'm over it now so mark this bug however you wish.

attached is the log. additional info is that I can get around the
crash by running wubi.exe in compatibility mode (run as win98/ME), but
it doesn't seem to install correctly although it does complete.

I've got the same problem as Khorne describes, and many other people.
This should be a critical bug and a fix put out pdq because NUBE's are
throwing Ubuntu away when they experience their first hassle before even
getting to their desktop.
