My experience is that both the eGalax touchscreen as used by the Dell
Duo (with eGalax daemon driver installed), and the Quanta touchscreen
as used by the Dell 2310, work as single touch devices using the patches
discussed above and implemented in kernel 3.2.0-24.37 & 3.2.0-24.38, and

screen cursor dissapeared to bottom right. Updated to all latest updates
including latest official kernel (but not proposed) same result.

I can confirm same results with -proposed 3.2.0-24 as I got with
3.4.0-030400rc3. That is touch is recognised and is made usable with Easystroke.

I have both, a Dell Duo with Egalax touchscreen & a Dell 2310 with the
Quanta touchscreen so I'd like to thank everyone for their work on these

I too have a non working Quanta touchscreen 3008. First reported this as
Bug #981098 which has now been marked as a duplicateof this bug. Mine
touchscreen is on a Dell Inspiron 2310. Is there any point me
replicating Ashindeed's running of v3.4-rc2?

Not quite same here had no problem in Gutsy but with Hardy on 2 similar pc's
both running 8.04 and patched up to date. When I insert a blank dvd or cd
nothing happens. If I try and burn using Brasero for e.g. it reports "no disc"
in drive.
fstab gives following for cd/dvd:
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom
seemed to get same hal failure after large (100mb+) gutsy beta upgrade
today 29/9/07. Seems that reverting CONCURRENCY in /etc/init.d/rc back
to none from shell solved this for me
