Hello,
just a heads up that with edgy, I appear not to get the same problem.
I upgraded from dapper this morning, on the computer that had the problems,
so it does indeed look like this problem has been fixed.
Many thanks!

Hello,
looks like I have a similar problem, or at least similar symptoms!
Firefox just crashes, sporadically, without apparent causes.
I'm running edgy 64bit version with the generic kernel.
I've attached the crash file generated by firefox.

** Attachment added: crash file for firefox
Reply added from duplicate bug 61099:
I'm using ubuntu dapper, on amd64, xeon flavour.
For what it's worth, all pdfs tried before exhibited the crash, and after the
kernel upgrade (last night), I have as yet not had a problem. I will check
more, but for the moment looks ok.

Binary package hint: evince
When called from firefox, evince does not quit, requiring a forced close.
This does not happen when called from the command line, but the gtk critical
messages do appear (see

looks like it is the same as #52965, sorry, hadn't found that one while
searching through previous bug reports
